The company's story stretches from launching one of the world's first portable mobile phones to its resurgence with Android and the eventual return of the legendary RAZR brand. Motorola's history in mobile communications actually goes back much further than mobile phones. In 1973, company engineer Martin Cooper made the first public mobile phone call in history using a prototype. About a decade later, Motorola made this technology available to consumers, launching the DynaTAC 8000X. After this period, the company strengthened its position in the sector while progressively miniaturizing its phones. Models like the StarTAC in 1996 and the RAZR V3 in 2004 cemented Motorola's name in mobile phone history.
